Canadian and International Law (Grade 12)

This course explores a range of contemporary legal issues and how they are addressed in both Canadian and international law.

Unit 1: Foundations of Law

Students examine the foundations of legal systems, the purposes of law, and the development of legal principles.

Unit 2: Criminal Law

Students investigate criminal law, including offences, legal procedures, and the administration of justice.

Unit 3: Civil Law

Students explore legal issues related to civil disputes, contracts, torts, and rights in Canadian society.

Unit 4: International Law

Students examine international legal principles, institutions, and issues affecting the global community.

Unit 5: Legal Issues in Society

Students analyze contemporary legal issues involving rights, freedoms, and public policy.

Unit 6: Culminating Legal Investigation

Students complete a final inquiry project examining a significant Canadian or international legal issue.
