This course offers students extended opportunities to speak and interact in real-life situations in French with greater independence. Students will develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through creative and engaging activities. They will also explore diverse francophone communities and cultures, and develop their understanding of how language reflects identity and cultural experience.

Unit 1: Communication and Personal Expression

Students develop their ability to communicate ideas and experiences in French, expanding vocabulary and refining grammar skills while discussing personal interests, goals, and perspectives.

Unit 2: Media and Contemporary Issues

Students explore a variety of French-language media texts including articles, podcasts, and videos, analyzing messages and perspectives on contemporary issues affecting francophone communities.

Unit 3: Literature and Storytelling

Students read and interpret literary texts from francophone writers, examining themes, characters, and literary techniques while developing analytical and interpretive skills.

Unit 4: Francophone Culture and Identity

Students investigate cultural traditions, values, and experiences within francophone communities around the world, exploring how language and culture shape identity.

Unit 5: Persuasive and Informational Communication

Students develop skills in persuasive and informational writing and speaking, expressing opinions, supporting arguments with evidence, and communicating ideas effectively.
