Mathematics

The Grade 1 Mathematics course builds strong number sense and encourages students to explore patterns, relationships, and problem-solving strategies. Students learn to apply mathematical thinking to real-life situations while developing confidence in working with numbers and mathematical concepts.

Unit 1: Number Sense and Numeration

Students explore counting, number relationships, place value, addition, and subtraction through visual and hands-on learning experiences.

Unit 2: Patterns and Algebraic Thinking

Students recognize, create, and extend patterns while beginning to explore relationships between numbers and operations.

Unit 3: Measurement

Students investigate measurement concepts including length, height, mass, and time using standard and non-standard units.

Unit 4: Geometry and Spatial Sense

Students identify shapes, explore spatial relationships, and describe how objects move and fit together.

Unit 5: Data Literacy and Financial Literacy

Students collect and organize simple data, interpret information using charts and graphs, and begin exploring basic financial literacy concepts such as money and everyday choices.
