The Grade 2 Language course strengthens students' literacy development by building reading fluency, writing skills, and oral communication abilities. Students engage with a variety of texts and begin developing stronger comprehension strategies while learning to communicate ideas clearly through speaking and writing. Students explore how language helps people share information, express ideas, and understand the world around them.

Unit 1: Reading Development

Students develop greater reading fluency and comprehension through guided and independent reading experiences. They learn strategies to decode unfamiliar words, understand story structure, identify key information, and respond thoughtfully to texts.

Unit 2: Writing Development

Students continue developing writing skills by composing sentences and short paragraphs. They learn to organize ideas, describe experiences, and write simple narratives, informational texts, and responses to reading.

Unit 3: Oral Communication

Students strengthen listening and speaking skills through class discussions, storytelling, and presentations. Oral communication activities support vocabulary development and confidence in expressing ideas.

Unit 4: Media Literacy

Students begin to recognize how images, sounds, and words work together to communicate meaning in books, videos, and digital texts.
