Science and Technology

The Grade 5 Science and Technology course encourages students to explore scientific concepts through investigation and inquiry. Students examine natural systems and technological designs while developing skills in observation, experimentation, and analysis.

Unit 1: Life Systems

Students explore human body systems and investigate how body systems work together to maintain health.

Unit 2: Matter and Energy

Students investigate properties of matter and explore changes in states of matter.

Unit 3: Structures and Mechanisms

Students examine forces acting on structures and investigate how design affects strength and stability.

Unit 4: Earth and Space Systems

Students study conservation of energy and resources and explore sustainable practices.

Unit 5: Inquiry and Technology Skills

Students develop scientific investigation skills including planning experiments, collecting data, and communicating results.
