Music (Grade 9)

This course enables students to develop their musical literacy through the creation, appreciation, analysis, and performance of music. Students will develop an understanding of music theory and will explore music from a variety of cultures and historical periods.

Unit 1: Music Fundamentals

Students develop foundational knowledge of music theory, including rhythm, melody, harmony, and notation.

Unit 2: Performance Techniques

Students practice instrumental or vocal performance skills and explore techniques for effective musical expression.

Unit 3: Music History and Styles

Students explore musical styles and traditions from different cultures and historical periods.

Unit 4: Composition and Creativity

Students create original musical compositions using a variety of techniques and technologies.

Unit 5: Ensemble Collaboration

Students develop collaborative skills through group performances and rehearsals.

Unit 6: Culminating Performance

Students present a final musical performance demonstrating their technical and expressive skills.
