Description

This course enables students to further develop their knowledge and skills in visual arts. Students will use the creative process to explore a variety of materials, techniques, and artistic approaches. They will examine how artists communicate ideas and perspectives through visual art and will develop their ability to analyze and respond to artworks.

Unit 1: Elements and Principles of Design

Students review and deepen their understanding of the elements and principles of design, applying these concepts through a variety of creative studio activities.

Unit 2: Drawing and Visual Representation

Students explore drawing techniques and develop skills in observation and representation, experimenting with line, shading, and composition to communicate ideas visually.

Unit 3: Painting and Colour Exploration

Students investigate painting techniques and explore how colour can express mood, emotion, and meaning in artistic works.

Unit 4: Sculpture and Mixed Media

Students experiment with three-dimensional forms and mixed media materials, creating artworks that explore texture, form, and spatial relationships.

Unit 5: Art, Culture, and Society

Students examine artworks from different cultures and historical periods, analyzing how artists respond to social and cultural issues through visual expression.

Unit 6: Culminating Art Portfolio
