Visual Arts (Grade 12)

This course focuses on enabling students to refine their use of the creative process when creating and presenting two- and three-dimensional artworks.

Unit 1: Advanced Design Principles

Students refine their understanding of the elements and principles of design through advanced studio work.

Unit 2: Drawing and Composition

Students develop sophisticated drawing and compositional techniques to communicate ideas visually.

Unit 3: Painting and Colour

Students explore advanced painting methods and investigate expressive uses of colour and form.

Unit 4: Sculpture and Mixed Media

Students create two- and three-dimensional works using a range of sculptural and mixed media techniques.

Unit 5: Art Criticism and Analysis

Students examine artworks critically and consider how historical, cultural, and personal contexts shape meaning.

Unit 6: Culminating Art Portfolio

Students develop a final portfolio demonstrating growth, technical skill, and creative expression.
